Privacy Policy

Last Updated: May 4, 2026

Sproutly (the "App") is provided by Adam Donaghy ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our current data practices and how we handle information if you choose to use certain features or services.

Privacy by Design: Sproutly is built with privacy as a core principle. Your garden data stays on your device, and we collect no personal information.

1.

Current Data Collection Status

As of the current version, the Sproutly app does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data from its users.

  • All garden data generated or entered within the App is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework
  • We do not have access to your garden plans, plant selections, or planting dates
  • We do not collect your location data beyond the initial setup for determining your climate zone
  • No user accounts, sign-ups, or personal identifiers are required or collected

Your location is used only once during app setup to determine your USDA hardiness zone for providing accurate planting recommendations. This data is stored locally on your device and never transmitted to our servers.

2.

Potential Future Data Collection (Optional Features)

To provide certain enhanced features in the future, we may offer optional services that require limited data collection:

  • Account Information: If we introduce cross-device syncing, we may collect your email address and create a unique user ID. This would be entirely optional and require explicit opt-in.
  • Subscription Management: If we introduce premium features, we may collect data necessary to manage subscription status through the App Store.

We will only collect this information if you explicitly opt-in by creating an account or initiating a purchase. Any future data collection will be clearly disclosed and require your consent.

3.

Payments and Billing

We do not directly process or store your financial information. All purchases are handled by third-party payment processors:

  • iOS Users: All transactions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive only basic transaction information needed for subscription management.
  • Future Platforms: If we expand to other platforms, transactions would be processed by Google Play Store or other authorized payment processors.

These third parties have their own privacy policies regarding how they handle your credit card and billing details. We recommend reviewing Apple's privacy policy before making a purchase through the App Store.

4.

Third-Party Services

Sproutly is designed to minimize third-party dependencies to protect your privacy. Currently, the app uses no third-party analytics, tracking, or data collection services.

The app uses publicly available data sources for plant information:

  • USDA PLANTS Database: Public domain horticultural data
  • OpenFarm: Community-contributed plant data under CC0 (public domain) license
  • Climate Data: Publicly available hardiness zone and KΓΆppen climate classifications

In the future, we may implement privacy-focused tools such as:

  • Crash Reporting: Anonymized crash reports to help fix bugs, with no personal data
  • Basic Analytics: Anonymous usage patterns to improve the app, with full opt-out capability
5.

Data Security

We prioritize the security of your data through our privacy-by-design approach:

  • Local Storage: All your garden data is stored locally on your device using Apple's secure SwiftData framework
  • No Cloud Storage: We do not store any of your personal data on remote servers
  • Device Security: Your data security depends on your device's security settings (passcodes, biometrics, and encryption)
  • No Network Transmission: Garden data never leaves your device

We recommend keeping your device updated with the latest iOS security patches and using device lock screens to protect your information.

6.

Your Privacy Rights

Since we don't collect personal data, most traditional privacy rights (such as data deletion requests) are not applicable. However, you always have full control over your data:

  • Data Control: All your garden data is stored locally on your device and can be deleted by removing the app
  • Location Permissions: You can revoke location permissions in iOS Settings at any time
  • Notification Permissions: You can disable notifications through iOS Settings or within the app
7.

Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of any material changes by:

  • Posting the new Privacy Policy on this page
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top
  • Providing notice within the app for significant changes

You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when posted on this page.
